Download Google Videos
I discovered a way to download Google Video Files. Isn’t really easy, but isn’t hard…
1) Find a video (like this)
2) Open the page source code and search for start (of the “play from start” link) and, in the link code, copy a code (anything likte this:
/googleplayer.swf?videoUrl=http%3A%2F%2Fvp.video.google.com%2Fvideoplayback%3Fid%3D4934ffdcc8397bfd%26begin%3D0%26len%3D75099%26itag%3D5%26docid%3D6439445308081246931%26urlcreated%3D1129218017%26sigh%3Dx6LJ-XyTjD32xqxZV2YLNSZ3HR0&autoPlay=true )
3) In your browser, execute this code: Javascript:unescape(“VideoURL”) (change URL by the code copied in the step 2)
Take the result of the script (the real file URL) and download it (If you use MSIE or FireFox you can create a html file with a link to the file and “Save as…” it, if you use Opera use the Quick Download Feature)
4) To play it use a FLV player like the one on http://www.snapfiles.com/get/flvplayer.html

Hey
I have watched a video on http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=-5586190858616560725&q=wrx that I wish to download, I tried following your 6 step guide on http://felipecn.innereyes.com/2005/06/download-google-videos/ but I couldn’t do it, the source code I encountered seemed different to the example you provided.
Any help would be appreciated.

Cool topic. Please note that in FireFox (1.5 beta at least), the URL doesn’t wrap. Instead it makes the page wider. OK on IE.

Greasemonkey anyone?
I’ve put together a remarkably sloppy bookmarklet, which you click while you’re viewing a video, and it presents you with a link which you can right-click to download.
if all goes well, you can just drag this link: [Google Video Download] into your bookmarks to save it.
If not (or if anyone wants to modify it), the javascript code is below:

i made a small user script for greasemonkey (firefox extension)
though it is in spanish, just right click “descargar de google video” and install the user script

How about using something like Google Video Downloader Bookmarklet? Much easier than fiddling with the URL yourself. Works on IE, Moz/FF and Opera.
